Alocasia infernalis

This small species is native to Sarawak in Malaysia.
Its common name is Alocasia 'Black Magic'.



Photos taken on a cloudy day outdoors. The leaves are almost black.
Photographed with a flashlight they are more or less metallic red.
Also the Sunlight makes them reflect red.
The peltate sinus between the posterior lobes embraces the petiole.
The abaxial surface is brown.
The petioles are light brown. There are no cataphylls between.

When a leaf dies it becomes red.
